A few weird/not awesome things about being pregnant:
-People touching my stomach. There, I said it. I just do not like it even a little bit. How would you feel if I rubbed your stomach??
-Waking up at least 4 times every night. What is "a good night's sleep"? I don't know anymore.
-Eating Tums like they're candy because acid reflux from hell.
-Separating abs. (???)
-Emotions. all. over. the. place. Andy started singing "Christmas Shoes" in the car the other day and I started to ugly cry. He wouldn't even stop when I begged. Cruel and unusual punishment.

A few awesome things about being pregnant:
-Buying/being given baby things. It's all so teensy and cute and I can't wait to have our little boy here to put it all to good use!
-Back/foot rubs. You pretty much get one whenever you want. (Thanks Andy)
-I need water all the time. And more water=better everything: skin, overall health, etc. It's a win-win.
-People are so nice to you, even more so than usual. They give you snacks and offer you their seat. Maybe it's because they pity me, but I'll take it.
-Extra long naps are accepted, if not encouraged.
-Stretchy pants, every day.

boy oh boy

It's a boy!!! And oh my gosh we couldn't be happier about it. Now can it just be March already?

oh baby

Sunday, November 2, 2014

In a few days I will be at 19 weeks! Almost halfway there. Crazy!! I feel really lucky because I've had it pretty good so far. I've had a lot of the usual symptoms like acid reflux, constant breakouts (Still waiting on that "glow" they speak of), and mild trouble sleeping, but luckily I've had no major sickness or scares. Also there have been some random cravings here and there including green apples and Coke. And if you know me you know this is bizarre because I've been a true-blue Dr. Pepper lover from day one, shunning Coke and all it stood for. I've also had some pretty luscious locks going on which is awesome, but I hear I'll be saying goodbye to a lot of this blessed hair in the weeks after baby is born. But such is life. The most recent happening is finally being able to feel the baby move a little bit. The smallest, most gentle of kicks and punches. AND we get to find out the sex of the baby on Tuesday!! I've held off on buying pretty much anything until we found out if our babe was a boy or a girl but soon...soon I can buy the tiny socks to go on the tiny feet and the tiny leggings to cover the tiny bum.

an announcement!

We're having a baby!

Saying that still sounds so surreal and crazy to me and honestly I'm still sometimes at a loss for words when I talk to people about it. We went through a roller coaster of emotions when we first found out: shock, disbelief, excitement, nervousness, joy, but most of all, love. For each other and for that tiny little person who we'll get to hold and call our's come March.

So there's our little secret we've been keeping. It feels nice to finally get it out there! I went home back in July for my best friend's wedding, just a few days after we'd found out, and there must've been a sign on my forehead saying "Ask me when I'm having kids!" because so many people did. If you were one of the ones who asked me and I didn't tell the whole truth...I'm sorry!! I was still trying to process the news myself. So now you know why I got all weird and "heh heh...oh you know, when the time is right..." and quickly changed the subject.

There are a lot of things that I've been uncertain about in life, but one thing I've always, always wanted without a single doubt, is to be a mom and have a family. We can't wait!

As of last Sunday, I'm twenty-two!

I like the sound of that I think. I'm not sure how I pictured my life at twenty-two a few years ago, but I'm pretty positive I didn't picture myself being where I am now. But I'm so glad I'm here. I'm comfortable with myself and who I am and where my life is going. Life is stable but still a constant adventure. It's just a good spot to be in.

Probably my favorite birthday present this year was just getting to spend the day with Andy! He spent six weeks in Louisiana away from me and was supposed to be gone for two more but decided to come back along with his brothers a little bit early! Word of advice: Don't spend six weeks apart from your spouse. (It's the worst.)

This post isn't very exciting or interesting but I just wanted to give a big thanks to Andy, my friends and family, and Tom's Gyros and Burgers (for the bomb Greek food) for making my twenty-second birthday a great one. Can't wait for what's ahead!

Fuzzy blanket or Dexter? You decide.

surprise! more really late wedding photos!

The computer charger has finally been located so we are back in action! Truth be told, even if I had had my charger this whole time, I probably wouldn't have had much to post. With Andy being gone, I do a whole lot of nothing exciting. Mostly work. A few naps. The occasional trip to Target. The usual. (Dear Andy, I miss you and can't wait for you to be back home with me.) I shouldn't complain. I'm grateful for a husband who is willing to work so hard. I just miss his cute little self.

Raise your hand if you're getting tired of my wedding photos...
Welllll, sorry. I'm posting a few more from our bridal/first look session. I know, I know... It's been well over a year since these were taken, and I really have no excuse as to why I'm just now posting them... but here they are now, so let's just go with it. One of these days I'll get back to more real-time posts. Until then, let's just live in the past for a few minutes.

I've said is so many times, but Kimbry Studios did such an amazing job on all of our pictures. They are so fun to work with and really help you to feel comfortable in front of the camera! Something that I definitely struggle with. Point a lens at me and I tend to get all fidgety and weird. And just look at the scooter they found! Fun fact: this scooter didn't actually work, so any of the photos where we're in motion happened all thanks to a nice little running push by a third party individual. You do what you have to...

Here are some of my favorites!

MIA again

Sunday, August 3, 2014

These last two weeks have been full of fun and exciting happenings, including a trip home to Arkansas for my best friend's wedding! I want to write all about it buuuut...I've left my charger at Andy's parents house and my computer is deader than Rexburg over the seven week break. *ba-dum-tshh*

So here I am trying to type this on my iphone while keeping an eye on that dang autocorrect, because, you know, one second you can think you're talking about one thing and the next you're being severely and uncomfortably misunderstood. Never good. This post is going to be short and sweet because I'm already getting a bit of a headache from squinting at my phone screen, but I just wanted to check back into the blog world for a sexing (actual example of autocorrect right there. It's supposed to say second. Not fixing it. But see what I mean? Uncomfortable...guys I have never used the word "sexing" okay?)  and say that I will be back soon!

For now, I'm going to be in my bed reading Harry Potter. Andy is gone for work for a while (come back please, I miss you) so why not re-read my favorite childhood book series and ignore everything else going on around me?  Except Dexter. Obviously.

cute face

(Sometimes the only way to get a picture of him is to pin him down and force him to smile by poking ribs.)
)

I love this face. Tonight we're going on a date to the $2 theater.
Because it's raining and we just cannot do homework for another second longer.

an update

Monday, July 14, 2014

Oh hey there, blog. I've been neglecting you for a short while, and I'm sorry. It's just that this semester of school has been so busy. Thank goodness the semester is over in just a week…I can hear the hallelujah chorus already. Aside from school, I've been busy with some fun things as well. So here's a bit of an update on the last two-ish weeks!

For the Fourth of July weekend, we packed up and headed out to Palisades lake with some friends and family for a few days of camping, boating, and all things American. I cannot tell you how great it was to finally get to go spend some time out on the lake. I think if I could spend every day on the water, I would. It's one of my happy places. And when you're surrounded by the best of company, you just can't beat it!

Dex had his first trip to the groomer right before this trip where I specifically asked them to not cut off all his curls. Still hurting over this one but still loving him all the same. (It'll grow back…it'll grow back.)
square ice cream from Rainey Creek Country Store.

Bliss.

On the night of the Fourth, we went to Idaho Falls to watch the 2nd best fireworks show in the nation (really). Thanks to my awesome in-laws, we had the best seats you could get for the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration. This isn't just any fireworks show…it's one that's synchronized to songs that make you feel only the most patriotic of feelings, like Martina Mcbride's "Let Freedom Ring" and Celine Dion's "God Bless America." Yes, Celine, yes. Andy argued that she was actually French Canadian and she shouldn't be allowed to be singing songs about America, but I say sing on.
In all seriousness, I really am so proud to be a citizen of this beautiful country.

fireworks pics…you've seen one you've seen them all.

My dad came to visit this last weekend! My siblings and I were all so excited to get to spend some time with him. My dad and I are two peas in a pod. You can read a little more about him here if you'd like. He rocks. I seriously laugh harder with him than I do with most. We grilled out, went to the farmer's market, played some golf (not me, I just drove the cart because 1) no hand-eye coordination and 2) no time fo dat), and we even managed to play a few board games without going WWIII on each other--which if you're a member of the Guin/McWhorter family, you know is no easy task. It was so much fun to have him in town, even if it was for just a few days. We had so much fun, I really forgot to take many pictures. So here are the ones I do have.

cherries from the farmer's market.

Thanks for a fun weekend, Dad!
